Dear Friends,
I have great news about my book of comfort for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. After My Son's Suicide: An LDS Mother Finds Comfort in Christ and Strength to Go On is now available in Deseret Book stores and on their website, as well as on Amazon.com. It is beginning to reach some of those who are hurting and I have received many heart-warming responses. (Click below on "what people are saying about the book to read a few.)
I spent the last few weeks before Christmas making corrections, revisions, and additions and sending the book to press for its second printing. It is the same book, but 30 pages longer, and a little better organized. So if you need this book, or know someone who does, now is the time to act.
Could you help this book fill its mission by passing the word along? So many are grieving in silence. I sent the flyer (that you can see by clicking on "flyer" below) to a random 20 names on my e-mail address book, asking them to pass it on to anyone that might need this book. I knew these people personally but did not know that any of them had been touched by suicide. Three out of 20 wrote back and ordered the book for themselves, telling me they were grieving a suicide in their own close family. You never know! One of those, a cousin, came back and got books for all her grown children and brothers and sisters. Both a brother and a nephew had died by suicide in her family, but the cause of death had not been revealed to any but closest family members. They reached out eagerly for help to make sense of it, and I’ve had some amazing responses from them.
Here on my website you can learn more about the book. You may view the flyer to see some of the many questions the book addresses. The Table of Contents and Introduction are available. Read what people are saying about the book. Please contact me if you have any questions. I’m so hoping this book will be a blessing to you!
Lovingly,
Darla

Now, let me tell you a bit about my background and how I came to write my other book Trust God No Matter What!
Ever since third grade when I discovered the electric thrill of transferring thoughts in my head into words on paper, writing has been at the center of my life. I write to make sense of my experiences, discover what I think, and to hear the Spirit speak. I write for therapy and comfort and to record the deepest feelings of my heart. Most importantly, I write to share revealed insights and my witness of Christ’s healing power in our lives.
As a young mother, when I received my first acceptance letter from a Church magazine I experienced pure joy! When my sister and I watched pages of our book To Parents with Love roll off the press I felt I had found my purpose. Later we started Latter-day Woman magazine, which provided my first job as a managing editor. That experience proved a great boon, opening doors for me when divorce necessitated full-time work. Since then I’ve enjoyed editing more than 200 inspirational books.
I love writing even more than editing! Since 2002 I’ve written regularly for Meridian Magazine online--about 190 of my articles have been posted so far--and I now write for and edit a publication for seniors. I’ve received heart-warming responses from many of you, my friends across the globe. We share life’s challenges, trials and joys, and nothing makes me feel better than to know that having the courage to share my life has somehow lightened your load.
One of my most soul-satisfying projects has been pulling together vital experiences and spiritual discoveries into a book titled Trust God No Matter What! Building that kind of trust has been my spiritual lifeline in times of extreme adversity. Trust in God and His guidance is our only sure source of hope and light in today’s frightening, perplexing world.
My book is as personal as my journal; I invite you to go inside and have a look around. Click on the “surprise me” pages, and peek at the introduction and contents pages as well. You’ll get a sense of why this book is different, as well as glimpses of the answers, comfort, and reassurance it offers.
I feel a kinship with all those who, like me, are yearning to better understand and live Christ’s gospel and to claim His promises. Come, share my journey!
Trust God No Matter What!
"Trusting God When Prayers Don't Seem Answered," "Trusting God When We Are Hurting," and "Trusting God When Children Stray" are some of the sections in Darla Isackson's new 300- page book. The Contents list alone reaches out and promises balm for some of life's hardest dilemmas. In Trust God No Matter What! you'll find no "same-old" worn words, but fresh, honest, comforting, enlightening Christ-centered insights.
Here's what readers are saying:
"After reading Darla's book, I wish I could live next door to her, go on long walks, visit with her by my fireplace on cold winter evenings and talk about spiritual things. She is so warm and real and she speaks to my heart. Darla starts each chapter with a personal signed note, and the whole tone of her book is full of that same warmth." - Maryn Langer, author of 12 Christian Historical Novels
"Many authors stay on the safe ground of presenting ideas without letting you inside their personal lives. Not Darla! She writes with authenticity, sharing her most difficult trials and the spiritual lessons she has learned from them."
"Darla Isackson has the courage and ability to reach deep within her own experiences and heart and emerge with truths powerful enough to change lives. She has mine. I truly believe that the spirit you feel as you walk with Darla will bring greater light to your life as well."
- Patricia Potts, author of My Journey from Darkness to Light
